During my 7 days in Vietnam, I stayed in 6 hotels (including an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay) and visited 3 others to get a real first-hand look at what the country has to offer accommodations-wise. Shoutout to Jina and the team at Aurora Travel who helped facilitate my journey. If you are considering a trip to Southeast Asia, let me connect you with Jina and Aurora Travel. They are sure to attend to all of the details and make your trip as wonderful as mine!
✈️🚗 Getting to Mövenpick Hanoi Centre:
After a 22 hour journey to Vietnam, I was more than ready to take a shower, stretch out, and unwind. I arrived late at night but was warmly greeted by everyone I encountered, especially by Mike who escorted me with my driver to the hotel. Along the way he gave me a quick and handy language lesson, too. After a 25 minute drive from the airport, I arrived at Mövenpick Hanoi Centre which can best be described as "Swiss Calm in the Heart of the Hustle”

✨ First Impressions
If Hanoi is a mosaic of motion—motorbikes, street vendors, ancient temples—then the Mövenpick Hotel is your pause button. Tucked into the city center like a calm exhale, this hotel carries the signature Swiss hospitality with subtle Vietnamese elegance. It’s not loud luxury; it’s the kind that hums.
🛌 The Room: Calm, Curated, Crisp
Walking into the room was like stepping into a well-balanced composition: neutral palettes, soft lighting, and enough modern touches (USB ports, blackout curtains, rain shower) to make a digital nomad or business traveler feel right at home.
The bed? Cloud-soft. The workspace? Streamlined, with strong Wi-Fi.
But the real treat? The view at dusk—when Hanoi starts to glow and quiet down.
🧖🏾♂️ Service + Wellness
Staff were warm and efficient—professional without being pushy, which I appreciated after a long day of travel. Huy came to my room immediately after I called the front desk for help to get my adapter to work in one of the outlets. He returned twice and was determined to figure it out- and that he did! The hotel includes a modest but high-quality spa and fitness center. There's also a lovely rooftop pool and Cabana Club to take a dip and relax from the Hanoi heat. For travelers like me, balancing exploration with rest, this felt just right.
🍽️ Breakfast Notes
The buffet breakfast was an unexpected standout: think pho station, fresh tropical fruit, and Western options. You can linger here—journal, plan your day, sip strong Vietnamese coffee and watch the city slowly pulse to life.
🎯 Who This Hotel Is For:
• The culturally curious traveler who loves comfort
• The solo wanderer who wants calm after chaos
• Business travelers who need reliability + style
• Black travelers seeking a respectful, low-stress hospitality vibe in Southeast Asia
